3rd All-Russian Conference: Technical and Economic Aspects of 20 kV Electrical Network Development

On July 11, PLC Technology took part in the 3rd All-Russian Conference: Technical and Economic Aspects of 20 kV Electrical Network Development at Swissôtel Krasnye Holmy. The conference was organized by the “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and Distribution” journal. The forum was moderated by Sergey A. Shumakher, leading expert of the journal.

The main purpose of the conference was to discuss the practical usage of 20 kV voltage for distribution networks.
Projects based in Moscow, Moscow Region, and other regions were presented by the following participants:
JSC Unified Energy Company, Inter RAO–Engineering, PJSC Lenenergo, HKA (Cable Alliance Holding) LLC, OJSC EESK (Ekaterinburg Electric Network Company). These examples illustrated specific features of project implementation in various regions to the conference participants. The speakers presented charts illustrating the differences in indicators for specific criteria when using 35, 20, and 10 kV.

Participating in the conference was Vladimir Yu. Elpidiforov, representative of British company FCM Consulting Ltd. Mr. Elpidiforov's speech demonstrated the effectiveness of comparing different countries' experience, in which we see varying results. For example, long-haul 6–36 kV AC cable lines (50–100 km) can be operated without reactors in the UK.

Brand new technologies were presented by EATON LLC. Stepan N. Todirka, a leading figure in the energy field and Chief Engineer of Moscow Cable Networks for several years, offered his comments.

Every year, PLC Technology takes part in this conference to share our extensive experience in the sphere of 20 kV network automation.
This event makes it possible to share our ideas and experience and come to new conclusions in order to solve existing issues and unearth potential opportunities. That is why PLC Technology is willing to cooperate in this area. Our projects and equipment are described by our specialists in more detail in the “ELECTRIC POWER.Transmission and Distribution” journal.
