On October 3–5, JSC FGC UES Research and Development Center held an international conference and exhibition dedicated to digital substations of the IEC 61850 standard.

Ivan Dorofeev, PLC Technology employee, presented a report on the following subject: "Usage of IEC 61850 technologies for the automation of distribution networks". The report considered a range of conceptual automation solutions for distributed networks based on the IEC 61850 standards, such as:
Automatic localization and isolation of a damaged section of a cable feeding ring and restoration of power supply to consumers (Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration, FLISR).
Centralized variant.

Automatic localization and isolation of a damaged section of a cable feeding ring and restoration of power supply to consumers (Fault Location, Isolation, and Service Restoration, FLISR).
Distributed variant.

Performing prompt blocking on adjacent sides of feeding cable segments.
Arranging individual protection functions and automation of 6–10 kV distribution devices at feeding centers.
Within the scope of each task, the general system architecture was considered, along with establishing data exchange, and the positive and negative aspects of applying the IEC 61850 provisions.

At the end of the event, the participating companies were awarded by Igor Kosolapov, Director General of JSC FGC UES Research and Development Center.
