On June 2–4, the 2nd International Research and Practice Conference was held on the following subject: ‘Digital Substation. IEC 61850 Standard. Electrical Network Digitalization’. The event was organized by the Research and Development Center of the Federal Grid Company and Dutch company DNV GL.
As part of the event, 46 reports were presented. They were dedicated to the implementation of the Digital Substation, the power-system protection lifecycle during digital transformation, equipment testing based on the IEC 61850 standard, and the technical solutions for digital substations offered by various companies.
Our report focused on: Comprehensive Solutions for Digital Substations. One of the most important benefits of the digital substation technology is the capability to extend the qualitative and quantitative range of the protection and control system functions by extending the software itself, rather than by increasing the amount of system hardware. Our implementation experience has demonstrated that digital substation technology can be efficient for 6–35 kV distribution networks if the appropriate architecture and equipment are selected.
The event included an exhibition of digital substation equipment manufacturers where our stand was presented — Digital Substation Based on TOPAZ Software and Hardware System.
